Job summary

Michigan Medicine is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist to perform routine and specialized tests across core departments, including flow cytometry, microbiology, and histocompatibility, ensuring accuracy and patient safety.

Responsibilities include accessioning, QA activities, instrument maintenance, and collaboration with clinicians. Must have MLS/MT certification or eligibility, and at least 2 years of clinical lab experience. Hybrid work option available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science or other biological science.
• Certification as Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Technologist, or eligibility for certification at the time of hire.
• Minimum of 2 years of post-training experience in a clinical laboratory.
• Appointment must be 32+ hours per week.
• Desired: proficiency in hematology, coagulation testing, and clinical chemistry testing.

Responsibilities

• Accession and process samples with accuracy for testing.
• Prioritize and distribute patient samples per QA goals.
• Operate and troubleshoot laboratory instruments and information systems.
• Perform waived, moderate, and high complexity testing and report results.
• Provide guidance and training to staff and ensure regulatory compliance.
