Job summary

Highmark Health seeks a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Technologist to perform routine and complex analyses on clinical specimens across laboratory sections. You will assist with daily department operations and ensure quality control and instrumentation performance.

The role requires MLS/MT certification (or ASCP) within one year of hire and 3–5 years of clinical lab experience, with supervisory exposure preferred. Location is in Pennsylvania; travel minimal according to department needs.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in ASCP eligible program or HEW exam completed.
Certification as MLS/MT or ASCP certified within one year of hire (AHN MT prior to 6/1/2022 exempt).
3–5 years of clinical laboratory experience.
Preferred supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

Performs routine and complex procedures to provide quality clinical information.
Operates, calibrates, maintains instrumentation and troubleshoots QC issues.
Serves as a consultant to laboratory staff and participates in continuing education.
May collect and process patient specimens and mentor students/new hires.
May mentor MT/MLS, phlebotomy, and lab processors per AHN policies.
Communicates needs to supervisor/manager for supplies and operations.
Assumes supervisory duties in absence of the immediate supervisor.
