Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a skilled MLS/MT to independently perform routine and complex laboratory analyses on clinical specimens across sections of the lab. The role supports daily operations and may mentor students and new hires.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of clinical lab experience, a Bachelor’s degree in an ASCP-eligible program or HEW, and MLS/MT certification within one year of hire. Compliance with HIPAA and privacy policies is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in ASCP eligible program or HEW exam; ongoing education for certification.
• MLS/MT certification within one year of hire.
• 3 to 5 years of clinical laboratory experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of routine and complex procedures with established criteria to provide quality clinical information.
• Operates, calibrates, checks and maintains instrumentation; troubleshoots QC/test issues.
• Serves as a consultant to lab personnel and other health care providers; participates in continuing education.
• May collect and process patient specimens per policies and within time frames.
• Mentor MT/MLT, phlebotomy and lab processor students and new hires.
• Communicates with manager/supervisor on lab needs and supplies.
• Assumes supervisory duties in the absence of the supervisor.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
