Job summary

Elevance Health, Inc. is seeking a Senior Medical Group Underwriter to determine acceptability of insurance risks and to set appropriate premium rates for large, complex renewal and prospect employer groups in line with underwriting guidelines and authority limits.

The role involves calculating renewal rates based on experience, industry, location, and demographics; coordinating with Sales, Administration and Claims to assess impacts; and preparing settlements and rate projections.

Qualifications

• Requires a BA/BS in a related field.
• Minimum 4 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Determines acceptability of insurance risks and appropriate premium rates for large, complex renewal and prospect employer groups.
• Calculates renewal rates based on experience, industry, location, size, and demographics.
• Coordinates with other departments to ensure accuracy and consistency of account reporting.
• Proposes rates and terms for group prospects using carrier experience, demographics and manual rates.
• Prepares annual settlements, ERISA reports, rate projections, or benefit changes.
