Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Certificate 1 Certified Professional Coder or Certificate 2 Certified Coding Specialist required.
• 3–5 years related work experience required.
• Advanced skills with Microsoft applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates coding across divisions and analyzes operative notes to determine services.
• Applies ICD-10/CPT/HCPCS codes with appropriate modifiers for reimbursement.
• Liaises with physicians and staff on documentation and coding issues.
• Keeps up to date with ICD-10, CPT changes and Medicare/third-party billing rules.
• Maintains codes in the system and updates the Practice and Procedure manual quarterly.
