Job summary

LCMC Health is seeking a Coding Senior to apply ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT codes across multiple specialties, determining MS-DRG and APC assignments for inpatient, outpatient and ambulatory records. The role may include various coding functions, including those of a Coding Specialist I.

You will review records, validate charges, and communicate with clinicians and staff to resolve documentation issues, ensuring high-quality, compliant coding and timely billing across departments.

Qualifications

• Proficient in medical terminology and anatomy/physiology for accurate coding.
• Knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT/HCPCS, MS-DRG and APC principles.

Responsibilities

• Navigate patient health records to determine accurate codes, MS-DRGs and APCs.
• Validate charges against documentation as needed.
• Communicate with clinicians and staff on documentation and coding issues.
• Identify concerns and collaborate with leadership for resolution of coding problems.
• Track issues requiring follow-up to ensure timely coding.
• Maintain coding quality and productivity per department standards.
• Stay up-to-date with changes in coding guidelines and regulations.
