Job summary

Munson Healthcare, northern Michigan's largest healthcare system, seeks a qualified Health Information coder to analyze records, assign ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT-4 codes, and ensure accurate billing. Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Health Information, or CCS certification.
• RHIT, RHIA or CCS certification is required.
• One to three years' experience using ICD10-CM and ICD10-PCS coding systems.
• Demonstrated ability to meet productivity and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Analyzes each medical record to determine items to be coded and abstracted.
• Assigns ICD10-CM diagnosis, ICD10-PCS procedure codes, and CPT-4 procedure codes.
• Abstracts and edits medical record data per guidelines and assigns charges.
• Communicates with physicians and CDI specialists for clarification to ensure correct codes.
• Maintains organized coding reference material and participates in educational activities.
