Job summary

Munson Healthcare seeks a Sr. Coder Abstractor - Inpatient to accurately code and abstract inpatient records, ensuring compliant, timely billing. This full-time day shift role requires strong coding expertise and collaboration with CDI and physicians.

You will assign ICD10-CM diagnosis, ICD10-PCS procedure, and CPT-4 codes, abstract and edit data per guidelines, and maintain organized reference materials. A $4,500 sign-on bonus is offered with full benefits.

Qualifications

• Two years inpatient coding experience required.
• Experience with ICD10-CM/ICD10-PCS and CPT-4 coding.
• RHIT/RHIA or CCS certification required.

Responsibilities

A Day inthe Life

Analyzes each medical record to determine which items will be coded and abstracted. Accurately codes and abstracts inpatient medical records, per work assignment, meeting expected productivity standards

Assigns ICD10-CM diagnosis, ICD10-PCS procedure codes and CPT-4 procedure codes, per established national, departmental guidelines and AHIMA Code of Ethics.

Abstracts and/or edits medical record data as required by departmental guidelines. Assigns and enters charges for ER EM levels, infusions, injections, and procedures per departmental guidelines.

Communicates with physicians and Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialists to request clarification and/or additional record information that will ensure correct code assignment, appropriate reimbursement, and compliance with established guidelines. This applies to ICD10 and CPT coding.

Maintains organized system for personal coding reference material. Participates in educational activities and maintains coding skills.

What’s Required

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Health Information, or CCS certification with a minimum of 2 years coding experience will be considered.

Certification as a Registered Health Information Technologist (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) is required.

One to three years' previous experience using ICD10-CM and ICD10-PCS coding systems is required.

Demonstrated ability to meet productivity and quality standards is required.

**Must have a minimum of two years of inpatient coding experience including coding very complex diagnoses and procedures, and experience with Prebill processes and timely communication and collaboration with CDI to ensure coding accuracy and optimal billing outcomes.**

This position is eligible for a $4,500 sign on bonus!
