Job summary

Munson Healthcare in northern Michigan seeks a qualified Medical Records Coder to accurately code and abstract inpatient records, assign ICD10-CM/PCS and CPT-4 codes, and ensure compliant billing.

The role requires an Associate's or Bachelor's in Health Information or CCS certification, RHIT or RHIA certification, and 1–3 years of ICD-10 coding experience, with a strong focus on productivity and accuracy.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Health Information or CCS certification.
• RHIT or RHIA or CCS certification is required.
• 1–3 years of experience using ICD10-CM and ICD10-PCS coding systems.
• Demonstrated ability to meet productivity and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Analyzes medical records to determine coding and abstraction.
• Assigns ICD10-CM diagnosis, ICD10-PCS procedure, and CPT-4 codes per guidelines.
• Abstracts/edits data and assigns charges for ER, infusions, injections, and procedures.
• Communicates with physicians and CDI specialists to ensure correct coding and reimbursement.
• Keeps organized reference materials and participates in ongoing coding education.
