Job summary

American Health Network (AHN), part of the Optum family, seeks a Senior Biller for national remote work. You will research aging insurance accounts, refile and appeal claims, and coordinate with payers to resolve denials in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

You will support on-site or remote teams, work within 8:00 am–4:30 pm EST, and may require overtime. Training is provided to ensure accurate, timely billing and patient account management.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of current experience in a health care billing and collections environment or equivalent
• 3+ years of experience using ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes
• 3+ years of experience researching and resolving complex insurance receivables, denials, underpayments, appeals, and aging accounts
• 3+ years working with major third-party payers, insurer websites, billing rules, and timely filing rules
• Ability to interpret EOBs, remittance information, and patient account activity
• Flexibility to work any shift within 8:00 am - 4:30 pm EST and overtime as needed

Responsibilities

• Manage a large inventory of insurance receivables including aging, denials, and underpayments
• Research account history, eligibility, benefits, coding, authorization, and payer requirements for resolutions
• Refile corrected claims, submit appeals, provide medical documentation, and follow up to final resolution
• Analyze EOBs, remittance advice, payer communications, and patient statements
• Initiate contact with payers and patients; negotiate resolutions within guidelines
• Respond to payer and patient inquiries with accuracy and courtesy
• Explain patient financial liability and process payments and plans
• Maintain complete and accurate account notes in billing systems and EHR
• Prioritize work, meet productivity and quality targets in a fast-paced environment
• Mentor teammates and share knowledge on payer websites and workflows
• Identify trends and communicate findings for process improvements
• Ensure compliance with billing guidelines, contracts, and privacy requirements
