Job summary

Tufts Medicine in a ambulatory outpatient setting seeks a Medical Assistant to support clinical operations and patient care. You will prepare rooms, take vitals, assist physicians, and educate patients on specimen collection, while handling administrative duties for workflow efficiency.

The role requires a high school diploma, MA certification, BLS, and at least 3 years of MA experience; immunizations may be administered.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Medical Assistant National Certification (AAMA/AMCA/AMT/NCCT/NHA) required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, or obtained within three months.
• Three years of Medical Assistant experience.

Responsibilities

• Controls and monitors patient flow to maximize efficient use of providers and exam rooms.
• Prepares medical records for patient visits, confirming accuracy and data.
• Delivers high levels of customer service in all interactions with patients and staff.
• Maintains a safe, comfortable environment for patients and families.
• Escorts patients to exam rooms, ensuring comfort, privacy and safety.
• Performs vital signs, reviews medications, and collects specimens as directed.
• Performs Point of Care Testing (POC) and quality control checks on equipment.
• Assists with arranging diagnostic testing and procedures under supervision.
• Supports billing processes with CPT/diagnosis coding and chart documentation.
• Trains and precepts staff; may supervise satellite locations.
