Job summary

Tufts Medicine seeks a Medical Assistant to provide clinical and clerical support in an outpatient/ambulatory clinic. The role focuses on patient flow, preparing rooms, taking vitals, assisting physicians with procedures, and educating patients on specimen collection.

The position requires a High School diploma or equivalent, MA certification, BLS, and at least three years of MA experience, with preference for bilingual candidates and EMR experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Medical Assistant Certification from a recognized body (AAMA/AMCA/AMT/NCCT/NHA).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtained within three months.
• At least three years of Medical Assistant experience.
• Preferred: five years MA experience, bilingual ability, EMR experience, and supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Controls and monitors patient flow to maximize efficient use of providers and exam rooms.
• Prepares medical records for patient visits and verifies patient identifiers.
• Maintains high levels of customer service in all patient interactions.
• Ensures a safe, clean environment for patients and families.
• Escorts patients to exam rooms and prepares them for provider visits.
• Performs vital signs and records patient information and pain levels.
• Collects specimens and ensures supplies are ready for provider use.
• Performs Point of Care Testing (POC) as ordered.
• Performs quality control checks on equipment.
• Assists with arranging diagnostic tests and procedures.
• Aids in patient billing by accurate charting of CPT/diagnosis codes.
• Processes and scans outside paperwork into EMR.
