Job summary

Texas Oncology in Webster, TX is seeking a Medical Assistant to support patient exams and treatment areas. Responsibilities include patient data collection, preparing rooms, and assisting clinicians in exams and procedures.

Positions are available at Level 1, Level 2 or Sr based on experience. Ideal candidates will have BCLS and CMA certification as applicable, with progression through experience in clinical settings and adherence to safety protocols. On-site role with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Level 1 requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Level 1 requires BCLS within 3 months of hire.
• Level 1 may require CMA certification depending on state rules.
• Level 2 requires a minimum of 3 years as MA or nursing assistant.
• Level Sr requires a minimum of 5 years as MA or nursing assistant in hospital/clinic.
• Some state regulations may require specific certifications to work as MA.

Responsibilities

• Escorts patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment room as appropriate.
• Records patient data prior to each physician visit, including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and med changes.
• Obtains all necessary patient records as required by physician prior to treatment or procedures.
• Prepares and stocks exam/treatment rooms and orders supplies as needed.
• Assists physicians with exams and procedures as requested.
• Administers subcutaneous and intramuscular injections, as delegated by RN or physician.
• Maintains all exam/treatment room disinfection protocols.
• Answers patient telephone calls for referrals to physician or nurse/pharmacist.
• Phones in prescriptions and makes other patient calls as directed by physicians and RN.
• Informs physician of patient reschedules and no shows.
• Performs other administrative duties, i.e. typing, filing, faxing, chart prep, reception, etc., as requested.
