Job summary

Houston Methodist is seeking a Senior Medical Assistant Certified (Sr. MA) to support physicians and RNs in advanced examinations and procedures. The role includes pre-visit planning, coordinating patient care, and clinical mentoring of MA staff within CLIA, HIPAA, and NCQA standards.

The Sr. MA will perform delegated tasks, ensure medical necessity, and help manage patient flow and documentation in the EMR, while upholding patient safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Five years medical assistant experience with highly complex, chronic disease management or in a specialty discipline.
• Certified Medical Assistant and BLS required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient examinations, procedures, diagnostic studies, and dressing changes.
• Schedule patient appointments and verify eligibility for care as needed.
• Preceptor and clinical resource duties; orient and train other Medical Assistants; maintain EMR documentation.
