Job summary

Robin Hood is seeking a Senior Manager of Media Relations in New York, NY. This hands-on, fast-paced role leads earned media efforts, pitching stories and briefing executives for media opportunities, while guiding policy and donor-focused communications with reporters and outlets across NYC and nationally.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated interest in economic mobility and poverty-fighting work in New York City.
• Bachelor's degree required; degree in Journalism or English, Communications, Public Relations, or related field preferred.
• 7–10 years of experience in media relations, journalism, or communications.
• Established relationships with NYC and national media covering poverty, philanthropy, and policy areas.
• Experience translating policy, research, or donor impact into media-ready messaging.

Responsibilities

• Proactively pitch story ideas and manage press engagement across media.
• Draft and manage press releases, media alerts, statements, and pitch materials.
• Build and maintain relationships with reporters, editors, and producers covering poverty and policy.
• Prepare briefing materials and talking points for executives and staff; coach spokespeople.
• Coordinate interviews, press events, and media briefings; monitor opportunities.
