Job summary

Mycronic's Global Technologies division, Surfx Technologies, seeks a Senior Semiconductor Equipment Engineer (Mechanical) to lead design and development of automated plasma equipment for semiconductor manufacturing. You will collaborate with electrical, controls, software, and process teams to deliver high-precision, reliable tools.

This role requires a Master's or PhD in mechatronics, 10+ years of mechanical tool design experience, SolidWorks/GD&T proficiency, and willingness to travel.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD degree in mechatronics (mechanical, electrical, etc.)
• 10+ years of mechanical tool design experience in semiconductor or high-precision equipment
• Proficiency in SolidWorks, GD&T, and Microsoft Project
• Knowledge of equipment cleanliness and safety standards (ISO, CE, UL, SEMI, NFPA, etc.)
• Strong verbal and written communication and project management skills
• Ability to mentor engineers and work independently or in a team
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally to customer sites
• Must be authorized to work full-time in the United States; no visa sponsorship

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical development for turnkey plasma equipment from concept through launch
• Design and integrate mechanical and mechatronic systems for high-precision plasma tools
• Develop detailed mechanical designs, assemblies, and documentation with SolidWorks/GD&T
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members
• Collaborate with electrical, controls, software, and process engineering teams
• Plan and execute equipment testing, troubleshooting, and validation
• Apply FMEA and structured problem-solving to improve reliability
• Manage project schedules, resources, and cross-functional coordination
• Address customer requirements and incorporate field feedback
• Support installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting at customer sites worldwide
