Job summary

Mycronic is seeking an experienced Manager of R&D Engineering to lead the Surfx Mycronic plasma technology team within the Global Technologies division in the United States. You will guide the full product lifecycle from concept to production, driving innovation in atmospheric argon plasmas for high-volume semiconductor manufacturing.

The role requires hands-on leadership, the ability to translate complex requirements into actionable plans, and collaboration across global teams, including Taiwan

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field as listed.
• 8+ years leading engineering teams and multidisciplinary projects.
• Experience with plasma technology or semiconductor equipment preferred.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration across engineering, manufacturing, quality, and commercial teams.
• Ability to translate product requirements into system specifications.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the R&D Engineering team, setting clear priorities and expectations while providing hands-on technical guidance.
• Establish technical ownership, milestones, and resource allocation across new product development, sustaining engineering, and customer-driven projects.
• Partner with executive leadership and Product Management to translate business priorities into structured engineering programs.
• Lead design, prototyping, testing, and productization of plasma engines and core subsystems.
• Ensure plasma engine performance meets semiconductor process requirements and supports commercially viable products.
• Direct the architecture and integration of complete semiconductor production systems and handling subsystems.
• Ensure subsystems work together as a reliable, safe, integrated platform meeting performance and uptime targets.
• Translate product requirements into system and subsystem specifications, interface controls, and verification plans.
• Drive structured engineering practices: DOE, FMEA, DFM/DFS, reliability engineering, design reviews.
• Strengthen configuration control, engineering change management, and technical documentation.
• Lead product development from early R&D through EVT, DVT, and NPI with production readiness.
• Collaborate with Operations and Quality to resolve issues and enable manufacturability and production release.
• Partner with Taiwan Operations to support design transfer and ramp-up.
• Coordinate with Product Management, Applications, and Service to align priorities with customer needs.
• Lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions to resolve complex technical issues.
