Job summary

Stanley Black & Decker is seeking a Lead/Principal Mechanism & Multi-Body Dynamics Engineer for a hybrid role at our Towson, MD Design Center. You will develop, validate, and optimize MBD models for drivetrains, linkages, and motion transmission systems to improve performance and durability.

You will work with MSC Adams, MotionSolve, Ansys Motion, RecurDyn, and Simscape Multibody, and collaborate across design, test, and analysis teams in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Master’s or Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Applied Mechanics, Engineering Mechanics, or a related technical field.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and refine kinematic and dynamic models of mechanical systems using MBD tools.
• Perform subsystem and system-level analysis of drivetrains, linkages, gear trains, actuation systems, and related hardware.
• Build and integrate flexible body models through FEA-MBD co-simulation workflows.
• Generate load cases, interface forces, and torque histories for structural and fatigue analysis teams.
• Correlate simulation outputs against bench and test data to improve predictive accuracy.
• Collaborate with mechanical design teams to define joint, contact, friction and boundary conditions.
