Stanley Black & Decker is seeking a Principal Systems MBD Engineer to lead development of high-fidelity plant models and simulation frameworks for next-generation electromechanical products. This hybrid role sits on the Tools and Outdoor team in Towson, MD.

You will build multi-domain models, translate physics into executable models, and develop automation workflows to accelerate design and validation. Collaboration with CAE, embedded software, and controls teams is essential.

Qualifications

• Master’s or Ph.D. in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, Controls, Applied Physics, Mechatronics, or related field.
• 10+ years of plant modeling or model-based design experience.
• Hands-on experience with plant modeling environments (Dymola, TwinBuilder, Amesim, Modelica, Simulink, Simscape).
• Proven ability to translate abstract methods and physics into executable models.
• Experience developing custom models, libraries, or components for simulation environments.
• Strong background in physics, mathematics, numerical methods, and dynamic systems.
• Experience interfacing models with external software, co-simulation, or executable deployment.
• Ability to collaborate across CAE, MBD, embedded software, controls, hardware, and systems teams.

• Develop multi-scale models spanning components to system-level behavior.
• Translate concepts into practical, validated simulation models.
• Create custom models and libraries for unique physics.
• Build tools and automation to improve model usability and speed.
• Support model deployment, co-simulation, and runtime integration.
• Interface plant models with controllers, embedded software, and test platforms.
• Mentor team members in plant modeling and simulation methods.
