Job summary

Stanley Black & Decker, Inc. is seeking a Project Engineer, Mechanical for a hybrid role based at our Towson, MD campus.

You will lead cross-functional projects, manage scope, schedule and cost, and mentor a small team of engineers/designers while working toward robust product development. You should have a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering with 7+ years' experience, strong leadership, and proficiency in CAD/FEA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with 7+ years of experience.
• Experience/training in Project Management preferred.
• PMP certification a plus.
• Demonstrated leadership with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Self-motivated, creative, goal-oriented and good team player.
• Computer literate; MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, FEA, 2D/3D CAD (CATIA experience a plus).
• Experience with product development: Design, DFM, Prototypes, root cause analysis, use of statistical tools, DOE, stackups.
• Proven ability to solve complex problems within design constraints.
• Project Management – planning, scheduling, budgeting, executing, cross functional teamwork/leadership.
• Workflow/routings/BOM coordination of internal and external resources.
• Accountable for managing a program and owning the results.
• Enjoy fast-paced design cycles and a dynamic work environment.
• Possible international travel to visit manufacturing locations.
• Hands-on leadership potential for future roles.

Responsibilities

• Successfully manage projects to achieve all quality, performance, schedule and cost objectives.
• Independently execute prioritization, planning, scheduling, and tracking of objectives.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to define customer requirements and translate into product specs.
• Lead a core team of 2-3 engineers/designers to develop products and mentor them.
• Recommend design decisions based on data analysis.
• Supervise prototype and engineering builds for engineering and manufacturing teams.
• Apply design and process controls, root-cause analysis, and Lean Six-Sigma tools.
• Coordinate with Management to keep programs on track and manage risk.
• Utilize engineering processes to support new product development.
