Job summary

Leidos seeks a Senior Mechanical/Thermal Engineer to join the Directed Energy team in Albuquerque, NM, focusing on thermal analysis, hardware design, and thermal controls for advanced directed energy systems.

You will develop 3D models, perform CFD/FEA analyses, and collaborate with machinists, fabricators, and vendors to deliver robust, manufacturable hardware. Must be a US citizen eligible for a Secret Clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or closely related field; 8+ years experience or master's with 6+ years.
• US Citizenship required and ability to obtain/maintain Secret Clearance.
• Experience from concept through detailed design, fabrication, assembly, integration and testing.

Responsibilities

• Create 3D models and detailed mechanical designs for hardware and systems from requirements to fabrication and testing.
• Perform engineering analysis to support design decisions and verify mechanical performance.
• Create and maintain engineering drawings with dimensions, tolerances, and manufacturing requirements.
• Design hardware with manufacturability in mind and coordinate with machinists, fabricators, vendors.
• Lead and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop mechanical interfaces and integrated solutions.
• Manage multiple tasks and projects, balancing technical requirements, schedules, and priorities.
• Communicate technical concepts and status to teams and customers and provide technical leadership.
