Job summary

Leidos seeks a Senior Mechanical/Thermal Engineer to join the Directed Energy team in Albuquerque, NM. The role focuses on thermal analysis, mechanical design, and thermal controls for advanced directed energy systems.

You will work with a multidisciplinary team to develop robust hardware from concept through testing, with opportunities to contribute to cooling systems and integrated mechanical interfaces. On-site with potential telework few days.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering with 8+ years of experience, or a master’s with 6+ years.
• US Citizenship and DoD security clearance eligibility.
• Experience translating concepts into detailed designs and fabrication drawings.

Responsibilities

• Translate concepts to fabrication, assembly, integration and testing.
• Develop cooling requirements and thermal control systems for directed energy hardware.
• Create 3D models and detailed drawings with manufacturability in mind.
• Collaborate with machinists, fabricators, vendors and other engineers.
• Lead mechanical subsystems and resolve design and test issues.
