Job summary

Pentangle Tech Services | P5 Group is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with 5+ years of experience to design and build the physical test stands used to test iron-air battery systems.

You will design complex test equipment from CAD concept through fabrication and assembly, build test systems with HVAC and thermal management, and create environments that simulate real-world operating conditions for battery packs and related hardware.

Qualifications

• 5+ years Mechanical Engineering experience.
• Strong CAD/design background, SolidWorks or NX.
• Experience designing/test equipment, test stands, fixtures, or similar hardware.
• Experience taking designs through fabrication and assembly.
• Manufacturing Engineering experience.
• Experience with thermal/HVAC/fluid/air-handling systems.
• Exposure to sensors, actuators, instrumentation, or DAQ.
• Experience around high-power or chemical systems and safety requirements.
• Battery/energy experience is a plus, not required.

Responsibilities

• Design complex mechanical test equipment from CAD concept through fabrication and assembly.
• Build test systems involving HVAC, thermal management, hydrogen management, electrolyte management, and air handling.
• Create test environments that simulate real-world operating conditions for battery packs and auxiliary equipment like pumps, manifolds, and power electronics.
• Work with Design and Test Engineering to create hardware that helps uncover failure modes early.
• Integrate sensors, actuators, and DAQ hardware alongside Electrical, Controls, and Chemical Engineers.
