Job summary

Pentangle Tech Services | P5 Group is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for Test Infrastructure to design and build the physical test stands used to evaluate iron-air battery systems.

The role focuses on designing complex test equipment, integrating sensors and DAQ hardware, and collaborating with electrical, controls, and chemical engineers to simulate real-world operating conditions. Prior experience with high-power/chemical safety is valued.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Mechanical Engineering experience.
• Strong mechanical design/CAD background.
• Experience designing/building test equipment, test stands, fixtures, or similar hardware.
• Experience taking designs through fabrication/assembly.
• Manufacturing Engineering experience.
• Experience with thermal/HVAC/fluid/air-handling systems.
• Exposure to sensors, actuators, instrumentation, or DAQ.
• Experience working around high-power or chemical systems and safety requirements.
• Battery/energy experience is a plus, not a requirement.

Responsibilities

Looking for a Mechanical Engineer with 5+ years of experience to design and build the physical test stands/test beds used to test their iron-air battery systems

What they'll actually do:

• Design complex mechanical test equipment from CAD concept through fabrication and assembly.
• Build test systems involving HVAC, thermal management, hydrogen management, electrolyte management, and air handling.
• Create test environments that simulate real-world operating conditions for battery packs and auxiliary equipment like pumps, manifolds, and power electronics.
• Work with Design and Test Engineering to create hardware that helps uncover failure modes early.

The strongest candidate would have:
