Job summary

Millennium Space Systems in El Segundo, California, is seeking a Senior Mechanical Technician to support fabrication, integration and test of space flight systems. You will assemble spacecraft components, verify workmanship, and operate machine tools and shop equipment on a 2nd shift on-site.

The role requires extensive hands-on experience with structures and mechanical assemblies, plus the ability to read blueprints and follow detailed procedures.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• More than 5 years of experience with Structures Assembly, Mechanical Assembly, Electrical Assembly, and/or Final Assembly.
• More than 3 years of experience following written and verbal work instructions.
• More than 3 years of experience in working with blueprints, specifications, assembly drawings, and standard operating procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assembles, installs, tests, checks out and inspects mechanical spacecraft assemblies by interpreting blueprints, drawings and specifications.
• Performs second party verifications and visually inspects mechanical assemblies to drawings, specs and procedures.
• Operates various materials handling equipment including forklifts, cranes, aerial lift, and other GSE as required.
• Operates a wide range of machine tools (drill press, grinders, chop saw, power & hand tools).
• Interacts with Design and Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing, Materials, Procurement and Shipping on procedural issues affecting quality.
• Supports in other mechanical areas as needed and cross-trains/mentors new hires.
