Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Staff Mechanical Systems Engineer for the Naval & Oceanic Systems unit, based on-site in Annapolis, MD. The role involves translating customer needs into integrated mechanical solutions for underwater and naval platforms.

Required are a strong engineering background with FEA and CAD skills, plus the ability to work in fast-paced multi-project environments and obtain TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical or equivalent STEM) with 12+ years experience; or MS with 10 years; or PhD with 8 years.
• Ability to work on-site at Annapolis, MD campus.
• Experience with fast-paced multi-project environments.
• Proficiency in engineering design, production, analysis, and office tools.
• Experience with Finite Element Analysis tools, bolted joint analysis, and structural hand calculations.
• Experience using 3D CAD software to create and review models.
• US citizen with ability to obtain TS/SCI and pass a polygraph.

Responsibilities

• Translate customer requirements into system solutions considering technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
• Perform concept development, design development, hardware integration and testing.
• Collaborate in a team to achieve project goals and communicate findings effectively.
