Job summary

Skyworks Solutions, Inc. in the Thousand Oaks/Newbury Park area seeks a Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer to join its Defense & Aerospace SSPA product development team in California.

Lead ruggedized mechanical designs for high-power RF amplifiers and subsystems, and develop robust thermal management. The role requires a BS in Mechanical Engineering, 5+ years of electronics mechanical design experience, and proficiency with SolidWorks, Ansys and Flotherm.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience designing electronics subsystems, chassis/LRUs, and associated harnesses.
• Experience with aerospace and defense electronics design.
• Ability to work in a cross-functional engineering environment with open interchange of ideas.
• Proven ability to work with limited supervision and meet technical, schedule, and cost goals.

Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design and development of ruggedized high-power RF amplifiers, subsystems, and chassis/LRUs for aerospace and defense applications.
• Execute product development plans to meet technical, schedule, and cost objectives across new development and sustaining initiatives.
• Develop and implement thermal management solutions for forced-air and liquid-cooled electronic systems.
• Perform thermal, shock, and vibration analyses using ANSYS and Flotherm.
• Create and maintain engineering drawings, BOMs, and conduct GD&T-based tolerance analyses.
• Lead and participate in peer, internal, and customer design reviews across the lifecycle.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to designers and technicians.
