Job summary

Marathon Los Angeles Refinery in Carson, CA, seeks a Machinery & Mechanical Superintendent to lead maintenance for rotating and fixed equipment, oversee the Machine Shop and Machine Craft, and drive improvements in reliability and lifecycle costs.

The role supervises hourly field and shop machinists, manages weekly maintenance schedules, budget discussions, and safety compliance, with an onsite schedule Mon-Thu 10-hour days and occasional TAR/outage support. Travel is limited to 5% of the time.

Qualifications

• Must have eight (8) years of experience in maintenance of rotating equipment or rotating equipment engineering in refinery or petrochemical settings.
• Experience with operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of rotating equipment.
• Knowledge of Management of Change processes and industry standards for rotating equipment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft 365: Word, Excel, Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of Maintenance Supervisors and craft personnel to execute routine maintenance.
• Oversee Machine Shop and Machine Craft activities and ensure safe, compliant work.
• Drive preventive maintenance programs and improve equipment reliability.
• Manage budget, scope allocation, and vendor interactions for outside repairs.
• Ensure documentation, audits, and reporting align with MPC standards.
