Job summary

Marathon Los Angeles Refinery in Carson, CA seeks a Senior Routine Maintenance Planner – Mechanical to develop detailed maintenance work packages for outages and planned maintenance events. You will create work scopes, cost and labor-hour estimates, durations, and material requirements, coordinating with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and contractors.

Qualifications

• Must have either a High School Diploma or GED with at least 5 years of mechanical maintenance or maintenance planning experience in an industrial setting.
• Or a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field with at least 5 years of relevant mechanical maintenance or maintenance planning experience.

Responsibilities

• Convert approved SAP notifications into maintenance work orders following the established work process.
• Develop detailed mechanical maintenance job plans with steps, estimated labor hours, craft requirements, durations, materials, equipment, and contracted services.
• Plan routine maintenance, outages, and other planned events for refinery mechanical equipment and supporting systems.
• Perform field assessments to develop work scopes, identify site requirements, and validate planning assumptions.
• Prepare work packages with instructions, safety requirements, drawings, P&IDs, equipment documentation, material lists, isolation and lifting requirements, and safe work permit requirements.
• Coordinate with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Inspection, and equipment specialists to review work scopes and repair plans for complex activities.
• Verify work instructions comply with refinery and corporate procedures and standards.
• Identify and requisition materials, equipment, tools, rental equipment, and contracted services; confirm availability before execution.
• Provide field support during execution of planned maintenance events and outages, addressing deviations and safety needs.
• Monitor planning status, material issues, and resource constraints; communicate deviations affecting execution.
• Incorporate field feedback and lessons learned into future work plans to improve safety, quality, and efficiency.
• Identify and pursue continuous improvement and maintenance cost reduction opportunities.
