Job summary

State Public Works Division (SPWD) in Las Vegas seeks a licensed Mechanical Engineer to plan and manage capital improvement projects from scope through completion. You will negotiate A/E contracts, review plans and estimates, and oversee bidding, construction contracts, and change orders while maintaining budget and schedule.

You will lead multidisciplinary teams, coordinate with regulatory agencies, and provide in-house mechanical design support for complex public works.

Qualifications

• Licensed mechanical engineer required at appointment; Nevada licensure within 12 months preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of professional mechanical engineering experience on major construction projects and capital improvements.

Responsibilities

• Manage all phases of capital improvement and construction projects from planning to completion.
• Develop scopes, budgets, schedules, and technical criteria.
• Review and approve consultant plans, specs, cost estimates, and contracts.
• Coordinate bid documents, bidding procedures, bid openings, and award recommendations.
• Provide limited in-house mechanical design services for assigned projects.
