Job summary

Satterfield and Pontikes Construction, Inc. in Midland, TX is seeking an experienced mechanical Project Manager who owns a project from pre-construction handoff through warranty closeout, accountable for its financial result on major commercial projects in the Midland/Odessa area.

You will lead buyout, subcontracts, equipment procurement, RFI/log, change orders, BIM coordination with VDC and trade partners, and supervise the on-site Superintendent to ensure schedule and cost performance.

Qualifications

• B.A. or B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field — or equivalent mechanical construction experience in lieu of a degree.
• 3+ years of experience in commercial or industrial mechanical construction, including 3+ years as the responsible Project Manager on HVAC, plumbing, or process piping scopes.

Responsibilities

• Own the project P&L from buyout through closeout and report monthly with variance analysis.
• Lead Pre-Con to Operations handoff; validate estimate basis, scope inclusions/exclusions, and unit rates.
• Execute buyout for specified divisions, with subcontractor and equipment procurement.
• Manage equipment procurement, submittal schedule, testing, storage, and delivery sequencing.
• Drive submittals to contract documents and project schedule; coordinate sign-offs.
• Own the RFI log; escalate aged RFIs with written impact.
• Manage change orders for prime and subcontract; document time and cost impact.
• Lead BIM coordination with VDC and trade partners; sign off on coordinated model.
• Direct Superintendent on manpower planning, sequencing, and two-week look-ahead.
• Prepare and submit monthly pay apps; control schedules of values and vendor forms.
• Process and approve monthly subcontractor and vendor invoices.
• Maintain project records for smooth turnover; standardize submittal logs and cost coding.
• Coordinate startup, testing & balancing and commissioning for divisions 23 & 25.
• Deliver closeout: O&M manuals, as-builts, warranty docs, and owner training.
