Job summary

Eagle Mechanical, a Satterfield & Pontikes company, seeks an experienced Project Manager in Houston to own mechanical projects from pre-construction handoff through warranty closeout and to be accountable for financial results on major commercial work.

You will manage P&L, drive buyouts, lead BIM coordination, supervise submittals and RFIs, handle change orders, and ensure on-time, on-budget delivery with high client satisfaction.

Qualifications

• B.A. or B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field or equivalent mechanical construction experience.
• 3+ years of experience in commercial or industrial mechanical construction, including 3+ years as the responsible Project Manager on HVAC, plumbing, or process piping scopes.

Responsibilities

• Own the project P&L from buyout through closeout, reporting cost and margin monthly with variance explanations and corrective actions.
• Lead the Pre-Con → Operations handoff, validate estimate basis, scope inclusions/exclusions, and allowances before buyout.
• Execute buyout for divisions, bid leveling, scope gap closure, subcontractor and equipment PO awards.
• Manage equipment procurement and release dates, submittal-to-release scheduling, testing, storage, and delivery sequencing.
• Drive the submittal process to contract docs and project schedule; review sign-off with project engineer.
• Own the RFI log; escalate aged RFIs to GC and design team with written impact.
• Manage change orders, including pricing, notices, and time/cost impact documentation.
• Lead BIM coordination with S&P VDC and trade partners in Navisworks; own clash resolution sign-off.
• Direct the on-site Superintendent on manpower planning, sequencing and two-week look-ahead.
• Prepare and submit monthly pay apps; manage subcontractor/vendor payment schedules.
• Maintain project records to Eagle standards for smooth turnover and continuity.
• Coordinate startup, testing and balancing and commissioning with the controls contractor and TAB agency.
• Deliver closeout packages (O&M manuals, as-builts, warranty docs, owner training).
• Own customer satisfaction on the project (target >95%).
