Job summary

SAIC seeks a Senior Mechanical Procurement Engineer to support DoD programs by sourcing and procuring mechanical assemblies, tools, and materials. You will read technical drawings, develop SOWs, and evaluate supplier proposals to ensure cost, quality, and schedule adherence.

You will collaborate with program engineers, designers, and SCAs, traveling to supplier facilities as needed. A senior candidate with strong analytical and negotiation skills is expected for a fully remote role with 20%

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field; 5+ years in mechanical/procurement engineering.
• Experience supporting build-to-print or prototype programs, preferably in DoD/defense.
• Proficiency reading technical drawings, GD&T, and Technical Data Packages (TDPs).
• Knowledge of procurement processes including RFPs, SOWs, negotiations, and contracts.
• Ability to analyze pricing data, track cost trends, and support price objectives.

Responsibilities

• Source, negotiate, and purchase machinery, equipment, tools, raw materials, parts, and supplies.
• Prepare SOWs with program engineers and assist in RFPs and bid packages.
• Review supplier proposals and provide technical input for source selection.
• Collaborate with procurement, supply chain, and quality teams to resolve issues.
• Monitor supplier performance and mitigate risks to protect schedules and budgets.
