Job summary

Clayco seeks a Mechanical Preconstruction Manager to drive cost estimation for heavy manufacturing, industrial and mission-critical projects. You will collaborate with engineers, architects, consultants, and suppliers to develop accurate bid scopes and pricing.

The role involves pre-bid activities, constructability reviews, and value engineering, with frequent cross-disciplinary coordination and travel to project sites across North America.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (or combination of education and experience).
• 5–10 years in preconstruction/estimating with a focus on mechanical systems.
• Experience managing bidding processes for conceptual estimates in industrial/ mission-critical markets.
• Working knowledge of codes/standards for mechanical design and installation.
• Proficiency with Bluebeam, Excel, Word, PowerPoint; Trimble estimating software preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collect and distribute bid documentation and solicit bids via online platforms.
• Prepare scopes of work for subcontracts and coordinate mechanical scopes with other trades.
• Attend pre-bid meetings and analyze site conditions for accurate scope development.
• Perform quantity surveys and apply standard labor rates to develop estimates.
• Support pricing documents for conceptual estimates during preproposal design coordination.
• Provide design alternatives and value engineering with life-cycle cost analysis.
