Job summary

Clayco seeks a Senior Preconstruction Engineer to drive bidding for construction projects by crafting precise estimates, developing proposals, and managing subcontractor bids. You will ensure accuracy of documents, perform quantity take-offs, and implement value engineering analyses to shape departmental strategies.

You will collaborate with the Preconstruction team across Commercial, Industrial, Institutional, and Residential sectors, manage schedules and conditions, and support project teams

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CM/CE/architecture or related field.
• 3–5 years of estimating experience in commercial construction.
• Proficiency in estimating and quantity takeoff software.
• Experience participating in Preconstruction meetings and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Proposal preparation across Commercial, Industrial, Institutional, and Residential sectors.
• Perform detailed quantity take-offs for scopes of work.
• Oversee subcontractor bids and maintain master list of subcontractors/vendors.
• Prepare and analyze Bid Evaluation sheets for competitive bidding.
• Evaluate project schedules, draft General Conditions, assemble estimates for owners.
• Facilitate handoff of estimates, bid info, drawings, and specs to Project Management.
• Develop and maintain historical data on unit prices.
