Job summary

Clayco is seeking a Mechanical Preconstruction Manager to lead estimating for heavy/advanced manufacturing and mission-critical projects. You will interact with engineers, architects, subcontractors, and owners to develop accurate cost estimates and bid packages.

The role requires 10–15 years in preconstruction/estimating, with strong technical writing, math, and proficiency in BlueBeam, Excel, and Trimble estimating software. Travel to nationwide projects is expected.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent combination).
10–15 years of experience in preconstruction/estimating with a focus on mechanical systems (Fire Protection, HVAC, Plumbing, Piping).
Proven leadership, teamwork, and effective communication across diverse teams.

Responsibilities

Lead collection and distribution of bid documentation and RFPs.
Prepare scopes of work for subcontracts and coordinate with other trades.
Perform constructability analyses and provide design alternatives with value engineering.
Develop pricing documents for conceptual estimates and assist in bid/budget preparation.
Support project management tasks: budgeting, scheduling, change orders, procurement, and vendor selection.
