Job summary

Clayco is seeking a Senior Mechanical Preconstruction Manager to lead the development of accurate cost estimates for mechanical systems on heavy manufacturing, industrial and mission-critical projects. You will coordinate with engineers, architects, subcontractors, and internal teams to produce bid-ready pricing and evaluate supplier qualifications.

Participation in pre-proposal design coordination, constructability reviews, and value engineering, with travel nationwide.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• 10-15 years of experience in preconstruction/estimating focusing on mechanical systems.
• Experience bidding conceptual estimates for heavy manufacturing and mission-critical projects.
• Knowledge of codes and standards for mechanical systems.
• Experience with estimating software, preferably Trimble products.
• Proficiency with BlueBeam, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate bid documentation and bid qualification activities.
• Prepare scopes of work for subcontracts and suppliers for mechanical trades.
• Perform constructability analyses and identify risks with mitigation measures.
• Develop pricing documents for conceptual estimates and pricing strategies.
• Support budgeting, scheduling, change orders, and procurement during preconstruction.
• Mentor junior estimators and organize data for estimating databases.
