Job summary

CPKC in Louisiana is seeking a Manager Mechanical to lead safety-driven maintenance and repair operations across terminals. You will provide managerial leadership, develop staffing plans, and drive performance, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and company safety frameworks.

The role requires deep railway operations knowledge, a strong problem-solving mindset, and the ability to collaborate with stakeholders while making timely decisions within authority.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least 10 years of railway operations experience (road, yard, locomotive, mechanical).
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Willing to work nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts.
• Strong communication with governmental stakeholders.
• Ability to diagnose root causes and resolve complex issues.
• Strong self-motivation and decisive within authority.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safe shop operations through safety scorecard sessions.
• Ensure effective emergency response readiness within territory.
• Provide leadership to managers in the field.
• Develop staffing levels at each terminal.
• Drive operational performance targets.
• Improve car repair productivity and capacity utilization.
• Resolve escalations from terminals.
• Ensure compliance with escalation guidelines.
• Drive trainyard performance and yard service repairs.
• Ensure train inspections are logged and meet standards.
