Job summary

Kairos Power seeks a Senior Mechanical Systems Licensing Engineer to lead licensing activities for reactor facility systems, including vessel and safety-related components. The role collaborates with engineering, safety analysis and technology teams to ensure regulatory compliance and effective licensing strategies.

Training in licensing will be provided, with emphasis on regulatory submittals and pre-application work with USNRC.

Qualifications

• BS or MS degree in Mechanical, Chemical or Nuclear Engineering.
• 10+ years of experience in facility or system engineering design, analysis, construction, qualification, testing, or implementation; mechanical or chemical engineering experience highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop licensing document content and supporting licensing products for reactor facility systems, focusing on vessel, decay heat removal, inventory management, primary heat transport, and auxiliary systems.
• Lead development of portions of Kairos Power license applications and support planning, development, and defense activities.
• Prepare for and support pre-application meeting interactions with the USNRC.
• Develop licensing strategies supporting license application development and execution.
• Lead resolution of regulatory issues including reactor vessel design and material qualification; coordinate with engineering and safety analysis teams on safety documentation.
