Job summary

Kairos Power seeks a Senior Mechanical Systems Licensing Engineer to lead licensing activities for the KP-FHR reactor facility and related topical reports. You will work with design, safety analysis and technology teams to ensure regulatory requirements are identified and implemented in licensing strategies and submittals to USNRC.

The role requires a BS or MS in Mechanical, Chemical or Nuclear Engineering and 10+ years in facility or system design; nuclear licensing experience is not required

Qualifications

• 10+ years of facility or system engineering design, analysis, construction, qualification, testing, or implementation.
• Experience in system design and understanding of evaluation, design and implementation of new technologies.
• Ability to interpret regulatory requirements and translate them into design/documentation.
• Willingness to learn nuclear licensing; training provided.

Responsibilities

• Develop licensing content and strategies for reactor facility systems such as vessel, decay heat removal, primary heat transport, and auxiliaries.
• Lead portions of license applications and support planning, development, and defense activities.
• Prepare for pre-application meetings with USNRC and coordinate with engineering/safety teams.
• Provide guidance to less-experienced engineers and drive regulatory deliverables.
• Support testing programs to meet regulatory requirements and develop execution plans.
