Job summary

Messer owns and operates a large portfolio of industrial gas plants, including ASU, CO2, H2, and other fixed equipment. The primary function of this role is providing mechanical engineering support to our operations, reliability, and project execution groups for piping, vessels, and related hardware.

This position provides direct engineering support for maintenance and repair, and acts as SME for mechanical integrity, regulatory compliance, RBI, and preventive maintenance program content across

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• 7–10 years in operational/engineering environments with piping and vessels experience.
• Ability to travel 20–30% (40–60 nights/year).
• Strong familiarity with regulatory standards and codes (ASME, API, NBIC).

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering support for ASU, CO2, H2, H, and onsite plants, ensuring safe, capable operations.
• Deliver piping and vessel engineering specs for plant replacement, modification or repair.
• Lead due diligence assessments during plant takeovers of infrastructure equipment.
• Maintain mechanical integrity of pressure systems and ensure fit-for-purpose equipment.
• Manage standards, RBI processes, and regulatory compliance for mechanical integrity.
• Oversee regulatory inspection programs for pressure vessels and coordinate third-party inspections.
• Act as SME for National Board, ASME, API code interpretations across equipment and state requirements.
• Collaborate with procurement on contractor evaluation, scope development, and KPI surveillance.
