Job summary

Messer is seeking a highly skilled mechanical/chemical engineer to lead pressure vessel and piping engineering on capital projects in our New Jersey facility. You will guide design, fabrication, commissioning, and operation, delivering safe, reliable systems.

Join Messer to mentor engineers, oversee contractor work, and ensure compliance with ASME B31.3, BPVC, and CGA standards while driving cost efficiency and safety improvements.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7–15 years relevant experience in piping and/or pressure vessel engineering.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Chemical/Metallurgical engineering; graduate degree a plus.
• Experience with ASME B31.3 and BPVC; familiarity with CGA and Messer standards.
• Ability to read P&ID, piping drawings, and vessel designs; strong documentation.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering and design of capital projects, establishing criteria and technical requirements.
• Oversee design, commissioning, and optimization of piping and pressure vessels.
• Review engineering deliverables and approve calculations, datasheets, and tests.
• Manage engineering contractors and perform supplier audits.
• Lead HAZOPs and risk assessments; support safety findings.
