Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Fitter for a mining client in Upington, Northern Cape. The role focuses on installation, maintenance, and repair of heavy mining equipment to ensure uptime and safety.

You will diagnose faults, read drawings, and collaborate with trades to improve equipment reliability. A trade certificate and 5+ years post-trade experience are required, with strong hydraulics and pneumatics skills; welding and fabrication desirable.

Qualifications

• 5+ years post-trade experience in mining/heavy industry.
• Experience maintaining and repairing hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Able to read technical drawings and schematics.
• Welding, machining and fabrication experience desired.

Responsibilities

• Install, assemble, and maintain mechanical systems and equipment including pumps, conveyors, crushers, and heavy machinery.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance per schedules and specs.
• Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out repairs.
• Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and manuals.
