Job summary

Spectraforce is seeking a Senior Mechanical Field Engineer to support mechanical engineering activities at a large-scale power generation facility in GA. This hands-on role spans engineering design, outages, installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance across HRSGs, high-energy piping, and other mechanical systems.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of relevant field experience, strong troubleshooting, and the ability to collaborate across operations, maintenance, and engineering

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering is required.
• 5+ years of relevant engineering experience; 3-4 years considered.
• Hands-on field engineering experience with mechanical equipment and outages.
• Knowledge of boilers, pumps, valves, piping, heat exchangers, cooling towers, and rotating equipment.
• Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, calculations, and vendor documentation.

Responsibilities

• Provide mechanical engineering support to improve reliability, performance, and plant efficiency.
• Plan and support scheduled outages, including scope development, contractor coordination, and equipment repairs.
• Support capital projects from initial scope through design, installation, and commissioning.
• Review engineering drawings, technical specifications, vendor submittals, calculations, and equipment designs.
• Oversee inspections, maintenance, and reliability improvement initiatives involving HRSGs and high-energy piping systems.
• Troubleshoot mechanical equipment and system issues using engineering principles and technical analysis.
• Support preventive and predictive maintenance programs to improve equipment performance and minimize unplanned downtime.
• Coordinate with engineering consultants, equipment vendors, construction contractors, and maintenance service providers.
• Perform field inspections and verify equipment installation, construction quality, and project completion.
• Provide technical recommendations and input on project budgets, equipment upgrades, and maintenance priorities.
• Collaborate with plant operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to implement practical solutions and continuous improvements.
