Job summary

Southland Industries in Texas is seeking a lead estimator to direct and supervise the estimating group for large mechanical projects. You will coordinate with in-house engineers, manage RFIs, solicit subcontractor bids, review final estimates, participate in pre-bid meetings, and help implement best practices.

Qualifications

• 4-year engineering degree or equivalent
• 10+ years experience in mechanical construction estimating/operations
• Strong knowledge of estimating strategies and contracts
• Excellent problem solving and leadership abilities
• Excellent scheduling and time management skills

Responsibilities

• Direct and supervise estimating group for large mechanical projects
• Assign estimating work and provide technical support
• Coordinate with in-house engineers to resolve design conflicts
• Facilitate RFI process with General Contractor
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor proposals
• Review final estimate packages for accuracy
• Participate in pre-bid meetings and client presentations
• Ensure historical data is documented and archived
• Staffing, coaching, training and performance evaluations
• Assist with negotiating contracts and change orders
• Establish and drive continuous improvement initiatives
• Support Integrated Projects estimating staff as needed
