Job summary

Meade in Tempe, AZ is seeking an Associate Director of Mechanical Engineering to lead our mechanical practice across mission-critical and large-scale infrastructure projects. You will set technical strategy, oversee delivery, and mentor teams delivering reliable, energy-efficient mechanical systems.

The successful candidate will have 12+ years in mechanical engineering, experience leading multidisciplinary teams, a PE license preferred, and hands-on expertise with HVAC, piping, fire protection,

Qualifications

• 12+ years of progressive experience in mechanical engineering.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering; Master's preferred.
• 5+ years in a leadership role with teams, budgets, and strategy.

Responsibilities

• Set vision, standards, and priorities for mechanical engineering services across a growing portfolio of mission-critical projects.
• Manage engineering teams, project managers, and designers to deliver safe, reliable, and efficient mechanical systems on time and within budget.
• Provide high-level review and approval of designs, calculations, specs and QA/QC for HVAC, piping, fire protection, and controls.
• Establish and enforce design standards, documentation protocols, and code-compliant engineering frameworks.
• Mentor and grow a team of mechanical engineers and designers, supporting recruitment and development.
• Track and report performance metrics across design quality, timeliness, budgets, and client satisfaction.
