Job summary

Carollo Engineers seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer for water/wastewater projects in the Austin area. You will lead HVAC and odor control design, review P&IDs, and contribute to multi-discipline project teams from concept through construction.

You will mentor junior engineers, develop cost estimates, and ensure NFPA 820 and energy-code compliance while delivering sustainable water infrastructure solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 6-12 years experience with HVAC, odor control and water/wastewater systems.
• Professional Engineer registration.
• Proficiency in mechanical systems for water/wastewater facilities.
• Knowledge of NFPA 820 and local energy codes.
• Ability to read P&IDs and develop control schematics.
• Ability to work with multi-disciplinary project teams.
• Strong verbal and written communications skills.
• Comfortable with public speaking.
• Experience with design of mechanical systems for utility facilities.

Responsibilities

• Production of contract documents including plans and specifications.
• Develops Process and Control schematics.
• Mentors and trains entry-level mechanical engineers.
• Prepares construction and design cost estimates.
• Manages HVAC and odor control for water/wastewater facilities.
• Interfaces with clients and project management teams.
• Works with multi-discipline project teams.
• Prepares technical memorandums and reports.
• Plans work and sequences broad tasks to completion.
• Visits sites to observe during construction and operation.
