Job summary

MKS is seeking a Senior Principal Controls Engineer in Andover, MA to lead the design and development of advanced control solutions for vacuum valve products. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of engineers across product design, manufacturing, and applications to deliver high-performance motion and vacuum control systems.

The role requires a Ph.D./MS/BS in engineering with 12+ years of experience, strong modeling skills, and expertise in embedded firmware and data acquisition.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or higher in engineering; 12+ years of relevant work experience.
• Strong control system analysis, modeling and design.
• Experience with embedded firmware systems and data acquisition.
• Product development from concept to manufacturing.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of control solutions for vacuum valve products.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on vacuum valve innovation and performance.
• Model multidiscipline systems using Simulink/Matlab for motor drive electronics and control algorithms.
• Work with firmware engineers to implement, tune and validate control algorithms.
• Ensure designs meet quality and regulatory requirements through testing and verification.
