Job summary

Nightwing is hiring a Senior Mechanical Engineer for our Springfield VA location to support technology development and mission programs. You will collaborate with mechanical, civil, and electrical engineers to take concepts through prototype development, testing, documentation, and production.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in mechanical engineering or 3 with an advanced degree, hands-on prototyping, CAD (SolidWorks/Revit), and strong communication skills to present to diverse audiences.

Qualifications

• TS/SCI clearance with CI polygraph is required.
• 5+ years in mechanical engineering or 3+ years with an advanced degree.
• Rapid, iterative design and prototyping with frequent test cycles.
• Hands-on experience building, testing, and troubleshooting prototypes (motors, actuators, sensors).
• CAD proficiency and documentation using SolidWorks and Revit.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop solutions from concept through prototype, testing, documentation and production.
• Create and deliver drawings; coordinate hardware fabrication; write detailed procedures.
• Prepare presentations, cost estimates and design reviews for diverse audiences.
• Mentor junior engineers and influence multi-disciplinary teams toward program goals.
