Job summary

Nightwing Technologies, LLC in Springfield, Virginia, is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern to support ongoing programs on-site. You will work with multidisciplinary engineering teams to design, analyze, prototype, and document mechanical components and assemblies.

Qualifications include enrolled in an accredited program for MS or BS in Mechanical Engineering, rising junior/senior by Summer 2027, strong CAD skills (SolidWorks preferred), and solid communication. U.S.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing MS or BS in Mechanical Engineering.
• Rising Junior or Senior by start of Summer 2027; GPA 3.0+ is desired.
• U.S. citizen with ability to obtain and retain a U.S. Top Secret Clearance with CI polygraph if hired full time after graduation.
• Experience or coursework with CAD software package for mechanical design and documentation (SolidWorks preferred).
• Fundamental engineering coursework and knowledge.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Proficient with MS Office tools including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Project.
• Ability to adapt to shifting program and task priorities.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Background check and drug screen required.

Responsibilities

• Support multidisciplinary engineering activities and senior engineers on various projects within the program.
• Design and analysis of tools/mechanisms, creation of detailed fabrication drawings, mechanical testing, rapid prototyping and assembly, report and presentation writing, and design review support.
